AD OPT Technologies was founded in 1987 by research professors of GERAD, an internationally renowned Operations Research (OR) group specializing in decision analysis. This close relationship has been maintained and strengthened throughout the years resulting in many successful projects.

GENCOL, The Engine That Drives Altitude

Altitude's crew management solutions are based on GERAD's GENCOL optimization engine. GENCOL (GÉNération de COLonnes) embodies the principles of the column generation method developed to solve large-scale complex problems. Although the research and development of GENCOL has mainly focused on successfully solving transportation problems, other applications have been solved using the GENCOL optimization engine. The brainchild of researchers Jacques Desrosiers and AD OPT founder, François Soumis, GENCOL and its researchers have received many prestigious honors namely, the Canadian Operational Research Society (1994 and 1996), the Operational Research Society of America (1986) and the European Association of Operations Research (1983).

AD OPT continues to fund and support GERAD's projects with the aim of continuously developing optimal solutions for all clients.
